Automation tools to create efficient search strategies for systematic reviews

BACKGROUND

Systematic reviews (SRs) are a great way to answer research questions. But they take a long time and are a lot of work. Fortunately, recent innovations can help with the conduct of SRs. One of these innovations is the creation of systematic review automation tools. Automation tools can be used to improve the speed of conducting SRs, without impacting their quality. Many systematic review automation tools have been developed by the Automation Team at the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare (IEBH) at Bond University.

This online workshop will introduce participants to the search strategy tools available via the Systematic Review Accelerator (SRA), the suite of automation tools built by the IEBH.

OBJECTIVES

Gain practical experience using the SRA searching tools to quickly design and run precise search strategies for systematic reviews.

DESCRIPTION

The workshop will provide live demonstrations of the SRA tools used when designing and running search strategies. There will also be hands-on, practical tutorials of a selection of the tools.

The SRA tools covered in this workshop include:
1. The Word Frequency Analyser
2. The SearchRefinery
3. The Polyglot Search Translator
4. The Deduplicator

All tools are freely available via the SRA website:: https://sr-accelerator.com/#/

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to use the SRA tools to create search strategies in an accelerated time frame. You will also know how to use the tools to create more focused search strategies which reduce the number of references that need to be screened.
